Findings and Recommendations of the May 23rd Community Meeting
June 01, 2017
On May 24, 2017, LINC Up, NAACP of Greater Grand Rapids and Micah Center hosted a community conversation for residents to give feedback on the City of Grand Rapids’ progress on the “12 Point Plan” that was adopted in 2015. Over 100 residents attended this meeting and shared their questions, concerns and hopes. Residents were broken into small groups of 10, while facilitators provided attendees with info on each of the 12 recommendations and the progress the City had made on these recommendations. Facilitators then asked attendees what additional information they wanted to know regarding the progress and the next steps they believed to be essential for the recommendations to be deemed “completed”. This community feedback has been compiled and these are the findings.

All meeting attendees were provided with a voting ballot. This voting ballot contained a list of the 12 recommendations outlined in the “12 Point Plan”. In small groups attendees were asked by facilitators to review these recommendations and to grade them on a scale from A-E based on the action steps the City of Grand Rapids had taken since its adoption and the information on these steps provided to citizens.
Average grades for each recommendation:
