LINC Soul Food Cafe Closing
June 19, 2017
It is with great sadness that we inform you that after four years of serving the community the LINC Soul Food Cafe is permanently closing its doors effective June 19, 2017. These past four years, the Cafe has been a gathering place where community is built, and we know many of you have been part of it. The decision was necessary to allow a better focus on other workforce development initiatives but that does not take away from impact of this decision. We sincerely thank all of you who have supported the cafe.
As many of you know, Cafe manager Lewis Williams is preparing to open his own restaurant this fall - Forty Acres Soul Kitchen - and will be transitioning to that endeavor full-time; this, combined with a downward trend in Cafe sales in recent months, provided what we felt was the right timing to close its doors. Here are a few things you should be aware of:
- Catering services will continue under the "Forty Acres" name during the summer months and leading up to the Forty Acres Soul Kitchen opening this fall.
- Some current employees of the Cafe will remain on the catering staff; others will be offered assistance with finding other employment in the industry.
- The closing of the Cafe provides a potential opportunity for another local business - either another small restaurant or coffee shop - to relocate or open their doors here.
Thank you to the community for supporting the Cafe over the last 4 years. If you or your organization is interested in our catering services, please contact Nikki Steed at firstname.lastname@example.org or 616.451.9140.
