MoTown Square

MoTown Square Affordable Assisted Living will provide 54 one-bedroom apartments for persons 55 and older who need assistance with daily living. The building will be located at 240 Hall Street SE between Cass and Lafayette Avenue. LINC UP and MoTown Square Development are codevelopers on the project. Maurice Townsend, president of MoTown Square development is a neighborhood resident and a new developer of affordable housing. The project received an award of Low Income Housing Tax Credits from the Michigan State Housing Development Authority. Financing partners include Alliant Capital, IFF for private financing and the City of Grand Rapids, Michigan Economic Development Corporation and other public financing sources. The project architect is Tower Pinkster and the General Contractor is Orion Construction. The anticipated construction start date is late summer or Fall of 2023.

Eastern Lofts

Eastern Lofts completed construction in 2022, with a total of 70 units of Affordable Apartments of which 8 are 4 bedroom townhomes. The four-story building at 623 Eastern Avenue SE has commercial space and housing units on the first floor and a total of 29 1-bedroom and 33 2-bedroom units. Leasing information is available at

The Godwin Heights Townhomes in Wyoming offers single family attached for sale units to households at or below 80% Area Median Income. Six units are completed and sold to first-time homebuyers. An additional six (6) units along 36th Street are under construction. The project is made possible by support from the Kent HOME Consortium of the County of Kent and City of Wyoming.
