GRCC PUBLIC WORKS ACADEMY INFO SESSION

🗓️ Thursday, March 12 5:30-7 p.m. | LINC UP - 1167 Madison Ave. SE

Join Grand Rapids Community College and LINC UP to explore a rewarding career in Public Works. The Public Works Academy is a 14-week program beginning April 2026 that offers a comprehensive pathway into high demand careers with local municipalities.

Paid work opportunities as you learn — no experience required! CDL training for Public Works and Prep for Commercial Learner’s Permit (CLP) also available.

COST AND ELIGIBILITY:

The program cost is $700. If you live in the City of Grand Rapids, your cost is only $50!

Open to applicants over 18 years old. High school diploma or GED is recommended. Must be able to complete a criminal background check, have a valid driver’s license, a good driving record and no recent OWIs.

Those who successfully complete the program will be eligible for potential careers such as the following:

• Building specialist • Engineering technician • Equipment operator • Fleet service technician • Maintenance worker for utilities, streets, grounds and buildings • Parking violations checker • Plant assistant • Safety specialist • Tree trimmer • Truck driver • Utility aide

Pre-City Commission Dinner at LINC UP

Join LINC UP on Tuesday, February 24 at 5:30 PM for a Pre-City Commission Dinner at the LINC UP Gallery (341 Hall St SE). This community-centered evening is designed to bring neighbors together for a shared meal and meaningful dialogue around the most pressing issues facing our city.

Participants will have the opportunity to engage in real conversations that impact our neighborhoods. After dinner, we’ll travel as a group to the City Commission meeting to ensure our voices are heard and our concerns are represented.

Child Support Bench Warrant Clinic

Do you have a bench warrant related to unpaid child support? You’re not alone — and you have options.

Join us for a Child Support Bench Warrant Clinic where you can meet with Friend of the Court staff and take steps toward resolving your warrant without fear of arrest. Law enforcement will not be present.

This clinic is a safe, supportive space to move forward and access the help you need.

What to bring:

• Proof of income (if employed/working)

• Accepted payments: cash, credit/debit cards, cashier’s checks, or money orders

• If medically unable to work, please bring proof of disability
